In Good Order and the Rick Mercer Report collide!

My two worlds have finally merged!  When I’m not working with the girls from In Good Order,  I work as a props buyer at the CBC on the Rick Mercer Report. Since Christie doesn’t even own a TV, this was my chance to introduce the gang to ‘TV Land’.  What a great night that included a personalized tour, sitting in on the taping of the live show, and then a good gossip and drinks back in our props room! I think even Christie came away a little star struck. - Philippa

Organizing at the Red Door Shelter

Smiles after a long day!

Smiles after a long day! (L to R): Lead contact at Red Door, Heather Shute, Karen Shinn, Philippa Burrows, Lilian O'Meara, a volunteer with Red Door, and Elizabeth Springle.

Our colleague and good friend Karen Shinn of the Downsizing Diva put out a call to local organizers for help to reorganize the Donation Room at Toronto’s Red Door Family Shelter. The Red Door is a fantastic organization that provides shelter to women and children in need. On June 10, 2009 several of us at In Good Order pitched in to help.

It was a challenging day that gave us a true sense of accomplishment. It is pretty amazing what gets done with 10 organizers working together! The team at Red Door were thrilled with the results. There was an added bonus for us – this is where we met Heather Shute, a fellow organizer and designer who has since come on board with In Good Order! – Philippa

In August 2009, the entire In Good Order team pulled up its’ sleeves to purge and reorganize MDAO’s offices, library and boardroom, with help from our favourite movers, Des, Anthony and Raphael Whyte of RCW Moving & Storage. The MDAO is a social service agency providing education, support and information for people who suffer with mood disorders. Run by Karen Liberman, who along with her amazing staff, are dedicated to helping individuals and their families with care, compassion, respect and equity. As they say ‘talk to someone who’s been there’. And that’s exactly how we feel at In Good Order. - Christie
