The first company I became aware of in the junk disposal business and still the best. Always courteous and professional… I can’t ask for more when they’re hauling away trash or things to be donated. They run the ‘Yardsale for the Cure’ in May of every year. More info on their website. – Christie

A stylish and practical way to hide unsightly garbage and recycling! Small garden sheds also available.

Get greater results, faster and easier. David Allen is considered the guru of time management. I’ve given his book “Getting Things Done”, or GTD to his legions of followers, to several clients and to an organizing colleague or two. Reminds us that the worst place to remember something is in our memory. Write it down! – Christie

A clothing charity that our colleague April Poppe first told me about. They assist low-income people who need to put together outfits for their first interviews. Two locations in the city. – Christie

Jake Leishman and his associates at EnviroShred have been helping us haul away paper clutter for shredding from our projects for years now. They will take paper as well as digital media (VHS tapes, floppies, dvds, etc.). Always courteous and punctual, they are a pleasure to do business with. – Christie

Modelled on a Food Bank, this Toronto charity accepts your donations of good quality, useable furniture to help people setting up a new home. Clients must be referred by a local social services agency. The Furniture Bank can arrange pick-up from you for a small fee. One of my very favourites, they are as rigourous about what they will take as about whom they will give it away to. – Christie

Once you have Claudia Mio from Go Wear You Want review your closet with you, not only will you look fabulous in what you keep, you will know exactly what to go shopping for! Call her for a wardrobe consultation, a closet clean-out and a customized style-guide. She’s so nice, she’ll put you immediately at ease! – Christie

They make dropping off donations easy – a drive-through location on Richmond Street East between Sherbourne and Jarvis. And a second drive-through location in Thorncliffe Park.

An easy-to-use tool to help you with space planning and furniture arrangement. A bit low-tech and old-school which I really appreciate! Designed by a Toronto interior designer, Belinda Albo. Available as a Home Furniture planner and a Kitchen/Bathroom planner. Available for purchase online. – Christie

Located on Front Street, this store is a treasure trove of chrome, stainless steel and space-saving concepts. One of the city’s best closet designers now works here – ask for Christopher Willems. – Christie
